Community foundation awards scholarships

The Post Rock Community Foundation has awarded over $4,000 in scholarships to area students for the upcoming academic year. The Lincoln High School Alumni Association Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Lincoln High School. Mikayla Breneman, Katlin Brummer and Aubry Donley, all of Lincoln, each received a $1,000 scholarship. The Wilson-Langley Fund for Luray Academic Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors or graduates who are residents of Luray, or the rural areas of Amherst, Luray, Valley or Waldo Townships, and are attending a Kansas university, college, vocational or technical school. Community foundation awards over $70,000 in grants

The Post Rock Community Foundation recently awarded over $70,000 in spring grants to area nonprofits. Grants were funded through the foundation’s Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund and the Post Rock Community Action Fund. The following organizations received funding: Sylvan Senior Center, $18,000 to renovate Farmer’s Elevator as a new space for the senior center. USD 298 Lincoln, $15,260 to purchase lighting and a sound system for the LES stage and gym. Bethany Church of Lincoln County, $15,000 to help put a new roof on the church.
