Wilson-Langley Fund for Luray Accepting Scholarship Applications

Friday, January 16th, 2015

The Wilson-Langley Fund for Luray, a field-of-interest fund through the Post Rock Community Foundation, is now accepting scholarship applications. High school students planning on attending a Kansas post-secondary school next year must be residents of Luray or the rural areas of Amherst, Valley, Waldo, or Luray townships.

All applications are now part of a new online grant system through the Post Rock Community Foundation website at  To apply for a scholarship, students must go to the website and click on “Apply for Grant,” and then on the blue “Apply Here,” button on the right.  The deadline date for applications is March 31, 2015.  A committee of volunteers from the community serve on the board and will be selecting the recipients in April.

The Wilson-Langley Fund was established in 2013 by the Luray Alumni, which turned over $25,000 in funds to Post Rock.  The money was made available years earlier by Dora Belle Langley and her brother Melbern Wilson, who wanted to do something for their local community.  Through additional donations and good interest rates, the fund has reached close to $30,000.  Some of the interest can be used for grants to local non-profit organizations as well.  For more information contact Kathy Heinze, PRCF Board Member for Luray.
