Post Rock Community Foundation Celebrates Five Years

Wednesday, February 4th, 2015

For the past five years, Post Rock Community Foundation has worked on their mission to meet charitable needs in the ten communities they serve through leadership, grants, and donor services.  To celebrate their five year anniversary, the Board of Directors has chosen to give a $200 grant to one non-profit organization in each community throughout 2015.

The names of each charitable or non-profit organization will be put “in the hat” for a drawing at the monthly board meetings, and the winner chosen from each town will receive a check from the foundation for that group to use for any charitable project in their community.  Individual board members will be contacting the various communities and will be present for the award ceremony.  The awards will be given throughout the year.  The board is currently working on a schedule to determine where and when each community will be honored with a grant.

Five years ago, the founding donors of PRCF envisioned a way to create a  brighter future for the Post Rock area.  Because of their hard work and generosity, the Foundation has grown from assets of $26,773 in 2010 to $285,175 in 2015.  Annual grants awarded in 2011 were $995; in 2014 the group awarded $5,409 to various organizations in the different communities.  Contributions to the foundation have grown from $28,031 in 2010, to $95,086 in 2014.

The five year anniversary grants are our way of thanking our donors and communities for supporting the Foundation and also a way to raise philanthropy in the Post Rock area.   We hope that these small grants not only help the recipients but also remind people that the Foundation is here forever as a way to provide permanent support to sustain our rural communities.  For more information about Post Rock Community Foundation visit our newly updated website at
