Community foundation awards over $71,000 in fall grants

SYLVAN GROVE, Kan.— During its fall grant cycle, the Post Rock Community Foundation awarded over $71,000 to 13 projects throughout Lincoln County and those served by USD 298 and USD 299. The following organizations received funding:

  • Sylvan Grove Fair and Agriculture Association, $13,873 to purchase a sound system for fairgrounds.
  • Lincoln Art Center, $10,000 to replace the windows and doors at the art center.
  • Lincoln County Emergency Management, $10,000 to replace the emergency sirens in Lincoln County.
  • USD 298 Lincoln, $9,500 to purchase rubber flooring for the weight room.
  • Luray Senior Center, Inc, $6,500 to replace the sidewalk.
  • City of Barnard, $5,500 to restore the limestone wall at the city office.
  • Bud Finch Memorial Community Theatre Foundation, $5,250 to purchase a heating and air conditioning unit for the Finch Theatre.
  • Lincoln County, $4,000 to purchase a hearing screening machine and start up supplies.
  • USD 299, $2,580 to purchase equipment for the manufacturing class.
  • USD 299 Preschool, $1,558 to purchase trikes and freight.
  • USD 298 Lincoln, $1,526 to purchase outdoor playground equipment.
  • Lincoln County Economic Development Foundation, $533 for signage updates for the Live Lincoln County marketing campaign.
  • Lucas Area Community Theater, Inc., $500 disinfecting equipment and supplies for theater.

This round of grants was made possible by four funds at the community foundation: the Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund and the Post Rock Community Action Fund, which both focus on improving quality of life throughout the county, the Kansas Health Foundation Fund and the Post Rock Healthy Living Fund, which both support the public health of Lincoln County and those served by USD 298 and 299.
