Community foundation awards over $60,000 in grants

The Post Rock Community Foundation recently awarded over $60,000 in spring grants to area nonprofits. Grants were funded through the foundation’s Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund, the Post Rock Healthy Living Fund and the Kansas Health Foundation Fund.

The following organizations received funding:

  • Lincoln County Economic Development Foundation, $13,000 to develop a countywide master plan focused on increasing healthy lifestyle opportunities for residents.
  • Lincoln County Rescue Squad, $13,000 to replace outdated equipment.
  • Lincoln County/Sylvan Grove Rural Fire District, $12,000 to upgrade bunker gear for firefighters.
  • USD 299, $6,000 to update equipment used by the visual communication class, which includes screen printing and vinyl graphics.
  • City of Beverly, $5,800 for park updates, which include replacement of playground equipment, reseeding and spraying of the park, and replacement of broken sidewalks.
  • American Legion Post #359, $5,000 to make two restrooms wheelchair accessible.
  • USD 299, $3,000 for Lucas-Sylvan Elementary teachers to attend Handwriting Without Tears Workshop.
  • Lincoln PRIDE, $2,000 for additional benches and matching flower pots on Lincoln’s Main Street Square.
  • Denmark Preservation Foundation, $635 for new windows at the Andreson Building in Denmark.
